Bettsville Hosts quiz bowl

Bettsville's quiz bowl team hosted a Seneca / Sandusky / Wyandot County quiz bowl match on Thursday, February 4.  The visiting teams were Old Fort, Clyde and Put-in-Bay.  Each team played a round robin match against each other.  The match consists of three rounds of eight minutes each.   Each first correct answer is awarded ten points and five points for a second chance on the opposing team.  Bettsville's team has eight team members this year.  They are led by senior's Andrew Hartsel and Brittany Twigg, junior's Alyssa Dymond and Ryan Hartsel, sophomore's Dominic King, Anna Sisco, Chris Harvey, and freshman Kennedy Hossler.   The bobcats are directed by Mr. Lynch.  Bettsville started the day by playing Clyde.  Clyde is the league's top team and they defeated the bobcats in the first game.  The team played Old Fort in the second game and lost in double overtime.  This was the first time that the bobcats ever played a double overtime game and it was very challenging.  The bobcat team then defeated Put-in-Bay in a close third game.  All the matches were very close and Bettsville is honored to have hosted the matches at our school.  We would like to thank Mr. Orshoski, Mr. Haynes, Mrs. King, Mrs. Harrison and Tyler Mulligan for their help during the matches.  Later in February, Bettsville will be traveling to Fostoria for the league championship tournament.  We congratulate the bobcats for their success this year and wish them luck in the tournament.
